The Wellington Hockey Awards 2025 celebrated the players, coaches, umpires, volunteers, and clubs who bring our game to life, reflecting the passion and energy of Wellington’s hockey community.

Several Wellington athletes and coach James Birkefeld took part in Hockey New Zealand’s 2025 Future Black Sticks Super Camp at King’s College, Auckland — a week dedicated to developing the next generation of high performance hockey talent.

Wellington’s U15 Boys and Girls teams proudly represented the region at the Lower North Island U15 Tournaments, showing great teamwork, skill, and spirit throughout an exciting week of hockey. Both groups gained valuable experience and made Wellington proud on and off the field.

The 2025 U13 Festival in Whanganui wrapped up with Wellington representing eight teams and nine junior officials, along with plenty of positive vibes on and off the turf. Thank you to Hockey Wanganui and all the players, coaches, managers, officials, and supporters who made the festival a success.

Riana Pho and Kate Fraser have been named in the Future Black Sticks U21 Women’s team for the Junior World Cup in Chile this December, a proud milestone for two talented young players from Wellington Hockey.

Summer Hockey is back this October with six weeks of action for all levels with fast-paced, social, and family-friendly six-a-side hockey grades along with our brand-new 11-aside competition at NHS. Get your team registered and go in the draw to win tickets to the Premier Hockey League in December!
