Summer Hockey is back for 2026, with six weeks of weeknight hockey offering a fun and flexible way to stay on the turf through the warmer months. Whether you’re keen to keep the competitive edge going, round up your mates for a social team, get the family involved, or simply squeeze in some more hockey before the end of the year, there’s a grade for you.
Choose between the fast-paced, half-field action of Super 6s or the traditional full-field format of Classic Elevens, with team registrations now open via PlayHQ until 18 October 2026.
Super 6s
Super 6s returns on Tuesday nights with fast-paced, 6-a-side hockey played across half a turf.
Starts: Tuesday 27 October
Competition Length: 6 weeks
Finish: Tuesday 1 December
Format: 6-a-side, half field, 30-minute games (15min halves)
Grades: Premier, Social and Family
Venues: National Hockey Stadium, Fraser Park and Elsdon Park

Which grade should we enter?
Premier: For experienced and competitive players, including teams made up predominantly of current Premier/Open Grade players.
Social: For teams looking for a more relaxed competition. Ideal for groups with a mix of playing experience, including lower-grade, returning and newer players.
Family: A fun, participation-focused grade for families and mixed-age groups wanting to get on the turf together.
Classic Elevens
Prefer the traditional game? Classic Elevens offers full-field hockey on Wednesday nights at the National Hockey Stadium.
Starts: Wednesday 28 October
Competition Length: 6 weeks
Finish: Wednesday 2 December
Format: 11-a-side, full field, 25-minute halves
Grades: Challenge and Social
Venue: National Hockey Stadium
