Secondary School Competition

Wellington Hockey offers a range of different Winter Hockey Competitions for Secondary School students so that all players of all ages and levels and receive a great hockey experience. The purpose of the Secondary School Competition is to have an aligned competition focused on the holistic development of our players, coaches and umpires in line with the Wellington Hockey Association Talent Framework. The competition also provides those new to the sport opportunities to grow and develop in a positive and encouraging environment.

Finals Date/s:

P1 and P2 – 21 August, 2026

P3 and P4 – 20 August, 2026

Junior Boys & Girls – 19 August, 2026

Playing Days:

P1 and P2 – Fridays​

P3 and P4 – Thursdays

Junior – Wednesdays

Approximate Game Times:

P1 and P2 – 4.30pm – 9.00pm​

P3 and P4 – 4.00pm – 7.30pm

Junior – 4.30pm – 7.00pm

No Playing Days:

  • Kings Birthday (29 May, 2026) - P1 and P2 Grades

  • School Holidays (4 July, 2026 - 19 July, 2026)

Playing Venues:

With the large number of secondary school teams, we are using every turf space available. This will mean you can be playing at one of the following turf venues within the Wellington Region:

  • NHS

  • Fraser

  • Maidstone

  • Elsdon

  • Kapiti Turf

​

Please treat each venue with respect and PLEASE make sure all rubbish (empty drink bottles especially) are put in the rubbish bins before leaving the dugouts at the conclusion of your match.​
