SPRING into Development

Wellington Hockey’s U11 SPRING into Development Programme is back for Term 4, giving young players the opportunity to continue developing their hockey skills after the junior season.

The programme is aimed at players aged 9–11 who are already playing hockey and want to improve their individual skills, confidence and understanding of the game.

Sessions are skills-focused, with players working in small groups on fundamental hockey skills before putting those skills into practice through games and challenges.

Developing skills through training and games

Across the six Friday sessions, players will work on a range of hockey skills including ball control, passing, receiving, eliminating and other individual techniques, with activities adapted to suit the ability of the group.

The focus is on giving players plenty of opportunities to have the ball, try new skills and build confidence in a fun and supportive environment.

Players will also have opportunities to test their skills in game-based activities throughout the programme, with a U11 Development Festival at the end of the programme where players can put their learning into practice.

The programme is open to players of all abilities and is designed to help each player take their next step in their hockey development.
