The Wellington Hockey After School Hockey Club (ASHC) is a fun and inclusive programme for children in Years 1-6, running during Terms 1 and 4. Whether your child has played Funsticks, taken part in junior competition hockey, or is picking up a stick for the very first time, ASHC is a great way to learn new skills, stay active, and enjoy the game of hockey.
Delivered by great coaches in partnership with local junior hockey clubs, the programme provides a supportive and enjoyable environment where children can build confidence, develop fundamental hockey skills, and make new friends.

Led by coaches in partnership with Junior Hockey Clubs, the After School Hockey Club will provide:

Six 45-minute hockey sessions

Coaching focused on developing fundamental and beginner hockey skills

A fun, safe, and inclusive learning environment

All equipment provided, including sticks, balls, and training equitment

Plenty of games, activities, and opportunities to make new friends

Sessions are offered across multiple venues around the region to make it easier for families to get involved:
National Hockey Stadium (NHS)
Mondays - 12 Oct - 23 Nov 2026
Fraser Park & Kelburn Normal School
Thursdays - 15 Oct - 19 Nov 2026
Elsdon & Maidstone
Wednesdays - 14 Oct - 18 Nov 2026
Age group split and start times will be subject to numbers registered to the programme. Confirmation will be sent out to parents/caregivers prior to the programme starting.

Years 1-3: 3:30pm - 4:15pm

Years 4-6: 4:15pm - 5:00pm

Term 4, 2026: $65 per child for six 45-minute sessions.

All equipment can be provided if needed, so players just need appropriate clothing/footwear (no studs), a mouthguard, a drink bottle, and plenty of energy.

Hockey sticks and balls will be provided during the session.
