The Summer Development Programme wrapped up another successful year, with record participation and the exciting addition of U14 players for the first time. As a key lead-in to the hockey season, the programme continues to grow, and we look forward to building on this momentum next year!

Wellington’s Masters teams performed exceptionally at the 2025 Vantage Masters Hockey Tournament, bringing home six medals and earning multiple selections to the New Zealand Masters Teams. With outstanding performances from players and officials, plus a well-attended community dinner, it was a fantastic week of hockey in Northland!

Wellington Hockey is hosting two key sessions for umpires and officials to kick off the 2025 season, including a Meet & Greet on 10th March and a mandatory Open Grade Pre-season Briefing on 19th March. Umpire registrations are still open on PlayHQ.

Congratulations to Riana Pho and the Vantage Black Sticks Women for their victory at the 2025 FIH Hockey Women's Nations Cup in Santiago, Chile, securing the title after a dramatic 4-2 shootout win over Ireland.

A rapid review of competition offerings for 2025 and beyond is underway, with clubs consulting on a potential 10-team format for Premier 2 and Premier 3. A vote is set for next Wednesday. Players should continue attending trials as usual and check with their club for any team placement implications.
