
Wellington Hockey was proud to send three U18 teams to the 2025 National Tournaments, hosted in Auckland (Women) and Timaru (Men).
This year, two U18 Girls’ teams represented Wellington, believed to be a first for our region in recent history. It was a valuable opportunity for more athletes to compete at national level.
Women – Auckland
The Gold team faced tough competition in their first outing, gaining important experience for future campaigns, impressively finishing in the top 16.
The Black team delivered a strong performance throughout the week, finishing 4th overall.

Women’s Black – 4th Place
Women’s Gold – 16th Place
Men – Timaru
The U18 Men’s team headed away to the deep south and had a solid tournament, making it through to the semi-finals before narrowly missing out on a place in the final. The second year in a row they have made the semi-finals. They finished 4th overall.

Riana Pho has been named the 2025 New Zealand U21 Women’s Player of the Year, a huge achievement and a proud moment for Wellington Hockey. The award recognises an outstanding season marked by leadership, consistency, and impact on the international stage.
