WHA umpires Kieran Wells and Lexie Etherington have been appointed to the U21 Matariki Tournament.

Wellington Hockey is excited to announce that Kieran Wells and Lexie Etherington have been selected to umpire at the Educare 2025 U21 Matariki Invitational Tournament. This event, hosted by Canterbury Hockey, will take place over Matariki weekend from Thursday, 19 June to Monday, 23 June 2025.


The Educare 2025 U21 Matariki Invitational brings together some of Aotearoa’s top emerging hockey talent for a top-level Under 21 competition, providing important development opportunities for both players and officials.


This appointment highlights Kieran and Lexie’s commitment and growth throughout the season and offers them a valuable chance to gain experience in a high-performance setting. We’re proud to see Wellington umpires joining other rising officials from Canterbury and Otago at this prestigious tournament.

Masters Teams Deliver Strong National Results

Our Masters teams delivered an outstanding week at the National Tournament, proudly fielding four women’s and six men’s sides, including our first ever Women’s 60s team. With two gold medals, two silvers and a number of strong top four finishes, it was a week that showcased the strength and spirit of our Masters community.
