Wellington Hockey congratulates our Masters players selected to represent New Zealand at the 2026 World Masters Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands. It’s fantastic to see so many Wellington athletes earning national selection following strong performances at the National Masters Tournament.

Our Masters teams delivered an outstanding week at the National Tournament, proudly fielding four women’s and six men’s sides, including our first ever Women’s 60s team. With two gold medals, two silvers and a number of strong top four finishes, it was a week that showcased the strength and spirit of our Masters community.

Registrations are now open for the 2026 U18 Representative Trials, with open trials taking place in late March at the National Hockey Stadium. Players are invited to register via PlayHQ and trial for the opportunity to represent Wellington at U18 Nationals.

It was an unforgettable week in Taupō for Wellington Hockey, as both U18 Indoor Hockey teams fought their way to championship wins at the 2026 U18 Indoor National Championships.

Riana Pho has been named the 2025 New Zealand U21 Women’s Player of the Year, a huge achievement and a proud moment for Wellington Hockey. The award recognises an outstanding season marked by leadership, consistency, and impact on the international stage.

Wellington’s U18 Boys and Girls teams have been named to compete at the National Indoor U18 Championships in Taupō from 12–15 January. Congratulations to all players selected to represent Wellington in the fast-paced indoor format against the best from around the country.

Wellington athletes Julia Gluyas and Riana Pho have earned selection in the Vantage Black Sticks Women squad for the 2026 Summer of Hockey series in Dunedin, highlighting their continued development and impact at the highest level.

A group of Wellington athletes recently competed at the Nkosi Cup and PSI U18 Indoor Nationals in Cape Town, South Africa, representing New Zealand. The tours provided valuable high-level indoor hockey experience, highlighted by Max Ruffell being named Men’s Goalkeeper of the Tournament at the Nkosi Cup.
