Wellington Hockey is pleased to open registrations for a new programme, Introduction to 11-a-side Hockey, designed to help Year 9 players get ready for full-field hockey.
This four-week programme is for players who are new to 11-a-side hockey, or who want to build confidence and understanding before the season begins. The sessions will focus on the basics of the full game, including positioning, simple tactics, and how the game works on a full field.
Each session will include a mix of on-field training and game play, along with short off-field discussions to help players understand what they are learning and how it applies in a game.
Programme details:
Dates: Friday 6 March to Friday 27 March 2026
Time: 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Venue: National Hockey Stadium
Cost: $70 per player (four sessions)
Who is it for:
Year 9 players (approximately 12–14 years old)
Players new to 11-a-side hockey or moving up from smaller-sided formats
Spaces are limited. Players can register now through PlayHQ.
