Registrations are now open for Wellington Hockey’s new Introduction to 11-a-side Hockey programme for Year 9 players. This four-week programme is designed to help players build confidence and understanding of the full-field game before the season begins.

It was an unforgettable week in Taupō for Wellington Hockey, as both U18 Indoor Hockey teams fought their way to championship wins at the 2026 U18 Indoor National Championships.

Riana Pho has been named the 2025 New Zealand U21 Women’s Player of the Year, a huge achievement and a proud moment for Wellington Hockey. The award recognises an outstanding season marked by leadership, consistency, and impact on the international stage.

Wellington’s U18 Boys and Girls teams have been named to compete at the National Indoor U18 Championships in Taupō from 12–15 January. Congratulations to all players selected to represent Wellington in the fast-paced indoor format against the best from around the country.

Wellington Hockey is seeking enthusiastic and committed coaches to support our Term 1 Junior Programmes and help build develop our next generation of players. Opportunities are available across the U12s Programme, After School Hockey Club, and Introduction to 11-a-side Hockey.

Wellington athletes Julia Gluyas and Riana Pho have earned selection in the Vantage Black Sticks Women squad for the 2026 Summer of Hockey series in Dunedin, highlighting their continued development and impact at the highest level.

Key dates for the 2026 season for officials are now confirmed, outlining pre-season briefings, competition start dates, and development opportunities throughout the year. Further information will be shared once the season approaches.

A group of Wellington athletes recently competed at the Nkosi Cup and PSI U18 Indoor Nationals in Cape Town, South Africa, representing New Zealand. The tours provided valuable high-level indoor hockey experience, highlighted by Max Ruffell being named Men’s Goalkeeper of the Tournament at the Nkosi Cup.
