Registrations are now open for Wellington Hockey's Term 3 Funsticks programme, running from 25 July to 5 September 2026.

Designed for children in Years 1 and 2, Funsticks is the perfect introduction to hockey, with a focus on fun, movement, and developing fundamental skills in a safe and supportive environment. Sessions help young players build confidence while learning the basics of the game through engaging activities and small-sided games.

The eight-week programme is delivered across five convenient hubs throughout the Wellington region:

  • National Hockey Stadium (Wellington City) – Saturday mornings

  • Fraser Park (Lower Hutt) – Saturday mornings

  • Elsdon Park (Porirua) – Saturday mornings

  • Kelburn Normal School Turf (Karori/Kelburn) – Tuesday afternoons

  • Maidstone Park (Upper Hutt) – Wednesday afternoons

All equipment is provided, making it easy for new players to get involved.

Whether your child is picking up a hockey stick for the first time or returning for another term of fun, Funsticks is a great way to get active, make new friends, and enjoy hockey.

Registrations are now open via PlayHQ. For more information, including session times and registration details, visit the Funsticks page on the Wellington Hockey website.
