Wellington Hockey is delighted to have sent both an U18 Boys team and an U18 Girls team to represent the region at the Super Indoor Hockey Challenge, held in Auckland from December 4th to 6th. The tournament was an excellent opportunity for young players to compete at a high level and gain valuable experience in indoor hockey.
The U18 Boys team delivered an outstanding performance, concluding their campaign with a thrilling match against Hawkes Bay. Trailing 2-0, the team staged an incredible comeback, scoring four late goals to secure a 4-2 victory. Their determination and teamwork were on full display in what was an unforgettable finale to their tournament.
The U18 Girls team also performed admirably, particularly given that many of the players were experiencing indoor hockey for the first time. The team showcased great effort and enthusiasm throughout the competition, finishing in a respectable 4th place overall.
Wellington Hockey extends its heartfelt thanks to the coaches and managers of both teams for their dedication and support. Their leadership played a key role in preparing the players for this event and ensuring a positive experience for everyone involved.
We are proud of the achievements of our U18 teams and remain committed to providing opportunities for players to explore Indoor Hockey. Congratulations to all involved for their efforts and achievements in representing Wellington Hockey.
