Wellington Hockey would like to congratulate Riana Pho on being named the 2025 New Zealand U21 Women’s Player of the Year, a fantastic achievement and well-deserved recognition of an outstanding season.
Riana’s award follows a standout year on the international stage, where she captained the New Zealand U21 Women at the Junior World Cup and continued to build her impact within the Vantage Black Sticks environment. Her leadership, professionalism, and consistency across both U21 and senior programmes have set a high standard and highlighted her growth as an international athlete.
Already holding 23 international caps since making her Black Sticks debut in 2023, Riana’s influence both on and off the field continues to grow. Her achievements reflect the dedication, work ethic, and commitment she brings to her hockey, and she remains a great role model for aspiring players across the Wellington region.
Wellington Hockey is proud to see Riana recognised at a national level and wishes her every success as she continues her journey in the black shirt.
