Registrations are now open for the 2025 U13 and U15 In-Season Development Programme.

Wellington Hockey is excited to announce that registrations are now open for the 2025 In-Season Development Programme for U13 and U15 players. This programme is designed to help young athletes take their game to the next level in a fun, challenging, and supportive environment.


The programme focuses on developing core skills, improving game understanding, and building confidence, while creating a pathway for players to grow their love for the game and prepare for attending a Lower North Island Regional Tournament (U15) or Festival (U13) later in the year.


Programme Timeline

Parent Information Evening

Monday 7 July

An online information session for parents will be held on Monday 7 July, providing an overview of the programme and answering any questions before the programme begins.


Development Days

Sunday 20 July & Sunday 27 July

The programme kicks off with two Development Days held exclusively at the National Hockey Stadium, introducing core concepts and setting a foundation for the training sessions ahead.


  • U13s: 8:30AM - 10:00AM

  • U15s: 10:30AM - 12:00PM


Weekly Training Sessions

Sundays, 3 August - 21 September

To make the programme as accessible as possible, we’ll be running sessions across three key locations on Sundays at the following times. Players can select the hub that suits them best during the registration process.


U13 Sessions:
  • NHS & Fraser Park: 8:30AM - 10:00AM

  • Kapiti: 3:30PM - 5:00PM


U15 Sessions:
  • NHS & Fraser Park: 10:30AM - 12:00PM

  • Kapiti: 5:00PM - 6:30PM


End-of-Season Events

U13 Lower North Island Festival

26–28 September | Whanganui


An inclusive and fun development festival for both boys and girls where all U13 athletes who wish to attend are able to do so.


Lower North Island U13 Festival cost is $400.00 per player. A deposit of $100 has been applied on top of the programme cost - select "U13 ISDP and Festival" during registration to attend. A separate invoice will be sent out at a later date for the remaining balance.


U15 Lower North Island Tournament

1–4 October | Boys: Wellington | Girls: Wairarapa


Teams are streamed into two tiers based on ability, experience, and motivation, ensuring every player is placed in an environment where they can thrive and develop.


Lower North Island U15 Tournament cost is $500 per player. A deposit of $100 has been applied on top of the programme cost - select "U15 ISDP and Tournament" during registration to attend. A separate invoice will be sent out at a later date for the remaining balance.


Who Can Register?

  • U13s: Players must be in Year 7 or 8.

  • U15s: Players must be under 15 as of 1 January 2025, and in Year 9 or above. (Players eligible for U13 tournaments are not eligible for U15.)

Programme Cost

The registration cost for participating in the U13 and U15 In Season Development Programme is $255 per player. This covers the cost for all training sessions and development days. The U13 Festival and U15 Tournament costs covers travel & transport, tournament accommodation, meals & recovery food, tournament entry fee, sundries.

Wellington Hockey officials Viv and Steven Dyhrberg, alongside Technical Official Nylan Profitt, are heading to Europe later this year for the World Masters Hockey World Cup tournaments in Rotterdam and Brasschaat. The trio continue to build their international officiating experience following their involvement at the 2024 World Masters Hockey tournaments in Auckland.
