Wellington athletes Julia Gluyas and Riana Pho have been named in the Black Sticks squad for the 2026 Summer of Hockey.

Wellington Hockey is proud to congratulate Julia Gluyas and Riana Pho on their selection in the Vantage Black Sticks Women squad for the 2026 Summer of Hockey series in Dunedin.


The Summer of Hockey marks the national side’s return to home soil and is an important step in the build-up towards the 2026 FIH Women’s World Cup. The series provides a valuable opportunity for players to compete in international hockey in Aotearoa, reconnect with fans, and continue building momentum following a strong 2025 season.


Julia and Riana’s selection is a proud moment for the Wellington hockey community and reflects the work they continue to put in across domestic and high-performance environments. Both athletes have shown consistency, commitment, and growth over recent seasons, earning their place in a squad that blends experience with emerging talent as preparations ramp up for a major World Cup year.


The Summer of Hockey series will be played from 21–25 January 2026 at the Alexander McMillan Hockey Centre in Dunedin, bringing international opposition to New Zealand shores and creating a festival-style atmosphere for players, supporters, and the wider hockey community.


Wellington Hockey is proud to see Julia and Riana representing on the international stage once again and wishes them, along with the wider Vantage Black Sticks Women squad, all the best for the series and the season ahead.
