Nominations are now open for the 2025 Wellington Community Hockey Awards, recognising outstanding contributions.

Wellington Hockey is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 Community Hockey Awards, an opportunity to celebrate the incredible people who make our game possible both on and off the turf.


Every season, our community is powered by the dedication of coaches, officials, administrators, and volunteers. These awards are a chance to acknowledge their contribution and highlight the positive impact they have on players, teams, and the wider hockey whānau.


Award Categories

Community members can put forward nominations in the following categories:

  • Community Coach of the Year – for a coach who inspires, supports, and develops players.

  • Community Official of the Year – for an umpire or technical official who shows fairness, consistency, and commitment.

  • Community Administrator of the Year – for someone who ensures the smooth running of clubs, schools, and competitions.

  • Community Volunteer of the Year – for a volunteer who gives selflessly to support the game in any way.

Mark your calendars! The Wellington Hockey Awards Evening will take place on Wednesday 15 October 2025. This will be a special night where our community comes together to celebrate the achievements, contributions, and spirit of those who give so much to hockey. Masters Teams Deliver Strong National Results

Our Masters teams delivered an outstanding week at the National Tournament, proudly fielding four women’s and six men’s sides, including our first ever Women’s 60s team. With two gold medals, two silvers and a number of strong top four finishes, it was a week that showcased the strength and spirit of our Masters community.

The Big Hit: A Nationwide Hockey Give-It-a-Go Day

Wellington Hockey is excited to host The Big Hit, a nationwide hockey give-it-a-go day for junior players at the National Hockey Stadium on Saturday 7 March. Open to all juniors, this fun and welcoming session runs from 8:00–9:30am, with all equipment provided.

Registrations are now open for officials for the 2026 season across Open Grade and Secondary School competitions. Opportunities are available both on the field and in Match Official and Judging roles.
