
Wellington Hockey is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 Community Hockey Awards, an opportunity to celebrate the incredible people who make our game possible both on and off the turf.
Every season, our community is powered by the dedication of coaches, officials, administrators, and volunteers. These awards are a chance to acknowledge their contribution and highlight the positive impact they have on players, teams, and the wider hockey whānau.
Award Categories
Community members can put forward nominations in the following categories:
Community Coach of the Year – for a coach who inspires, supports, and develops players.
Community Official of the Year – for an umpire or technical official who shows fairness, consistency, and commitment.
Community Administrator of the Year – for someone who ensures the smooth running of clubs, schools, and competitions.
Community Volunteer of the Year – for a volunteer who gives selflessly to support the game in any way.

This will be a special night where our community comes together to celebrate the achievements, contributions, and spirit of those who give so much to hockey. Steven Dyhrberg Appointed to World Masters Hockey Officiating Committee
Local WHA umpire Steven Dyhrberg has been appointed to the World Masters Hockey Officiating Committee for a two-year term from January 2026, alongside a role on the WMH World Cup Organising Committee for Belgium and the Netherlands 2026.

Wellington Hockey is launching a new fast-paced Hockey Nines Tournament on 7–8 March 2026, giving P1–P2 teams the perfect pre-season hit-out before winter. Players are encouraged to connect with their club and team mates to get their team sorted.
