
Wellington Hockey is excited to share the key season dates for 2026, giving our community an early look at another big year of hockey ahead.
These dates provide a helpful overview for players, families, clubs, officials, and volunteers to begin planning across summer, winter, school, and representative hockey. While all dates are expected to be final, they remain subject to change and any updates will be communicated promptly.

Winter Season
Open Grade Hockey
Opening Weekend: No earlier than 21–22 March
Intercity Competition Starts: 9 May

Four Wellington officials have been appointed to the 2026 World Masters Hockey World Cup in Rotterdam later this year. Their selection recognises their experience and contribution to officiating at the highest level of Masters hockey.

Wellington Hockey congratulates our Masters players selected to represent New Zealand at the 2026 World Masters Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands. It’s fantastic to see so many Wellington athletes earning national selection following strong performances at the National Masters Tournament.

Masters Teams Deliver Strong National Results
Our Masters teams delivered an outstanding week at the National Tournament, proudly fielding four women’s and six men’s sides, including our first ever Women’s 60s team. With two gold medals, two silvers and a number of strong top four finishes, it was a week that showcased the strength and spirit of our Masters community.
