
Wellington Hockey is excited to share the key season dates for 2026, giving our community an early look at another big year of hockey ahead.
These dates provide a helpful overview for players, families, clubs, officials, and volunteers to begin planning across summer, winter, school, and representative hockey. While all dates are expected to be final, they remain subject to change and any updates will be communicated promptly.

Opening Weekend: No earlier than 21–22 March
Intercity Competition Starts: 9 May

Wellington Hockey is proud to congratulate the athletes selected in the 2026 New Zealand Under 21 Men’s and Women’s squads following strong performances throughout the Junior Hockey League campaign. The selections recognise some of Wellington’s most exciting emerging talent as they continue their journey within the national high-performance pathway.

Wellington Athletes Selected for Black Sticks Nations Cup Squads
Wellington Hockey congratulates Ruby Baker, Riana Pho, Julia Gluyas, Finn Ward, and Brad Read on their selection for the Vantage Black Sticks squads competing at the 2026 FIH Nations Cup tournaments. The Women’s Nations Cup heads to Auckland this June, bringing international hockey back to New Zealand for the country’s biggest international hockey event in nearly a decade.

Wellington Hockey is proud to announce our 2026 U21 Men’s and Women’s representative teams for the Invitational Educare Matariki U21 Tournament, taking place in Wellington from 4–6 July. With top emerging talent from across the country coming together in the capital, the tournament promises an exciting celebration of hockey, connection, and the spirit of Matariki.
