INTRODUCTION TO UMPIRING
We have two dates set to run an Introduction to Umpiring course. This is a fantastic opportunity for coaches, players and managers to get better acquainted with the rules of hockey and how to be a better umpire. You will be amazed at how much you don’t know about the rules of hockey! The Course will be delivered by our International Umpire, Devendra Patel.
8 March - NHS Pavilion - 6pm - 8pm
14 March - Fraser Pavilion - 6pm - 8pm
Cost: Nil - however as places are limited, ‘no shows’ will be invoiced $50

For schools or clubs who have more than 10 people interested, please get in touch as we may be able to arrange a special session for you.
Course details:
Objective: To provide players, coaches, supporters and new umpires with the basic knowledge of hockey umpiring.

· Path of the umpire
· Areas of control
· Signals
· Blowing the whistle
· Rules and interpretations
· Procedures for taking penalties
· Body language and game management
· Decision making
The course will also include an interactive quiz and decision making scenarios.
