Open Grade Week 2 Roundup

Saturday and Sunday 9th & 10th April

Week two of our Open Grade competition is in the books. We saw another stunning afternoon of weather as the club teams of the Wellington region took to the turfs again to battle it out and build upon last weeks efforts.

The next two weeks we will see a short break from the competition as we observe the Easter and ANZAC holidays, but Wellington Hockey will be back in two weeks time for round three of the competition. Enjoy your break and we’ll see you back at the turf soon.

Here is a round up of round two games form our Premier 1 Men’s and Women’s competition.

MEN

Dalefield made the most of their first game this season on the Clareville turf with a bonus point win over 2021 champions Harbour City. Victoria Uni came back to earth after last week’s good win over Northern United, being well beaten by a rampant Hutt United in the early game on McDonald’s Newtown NHS 2, while Tawa Titans showed considerable fight in the later game on NHS 2, before going down narrowly to Indians.

Five players scored goals for Hutt United who picked up a second bonus point as they convincingly defeated Victoria Uni in the early game on Cello NHS 1. There was nothing between Toa and Karori, with both teams earning a point after their goal-apiece draw in the later game. Harbour City remain without a point after they lost a very close encounter to Dalefield at Clareville, that moved the local team into second place.
