Wellington Hockey

National Hockey Stadium Trust

The NHS Trust manage the National Hockey Stadium, Elsdon and Fraser Park facilities. They pay a lease to the Wellington City Council each year for the NHS turfs and the pavilion building, with the council responsible for paying for the cost of replacing the surfaces and upkeep of the pavilion building and grounds.   The NHS Trust continues to contribute to the development of the NHS facility e.g. steps have been installed in the embankment this summer.  The turfs at Elsdon and Fraser (including the small turf and pavilion) were paid for by the NHS (with Council contributions for Elsdon) and the NHS has responsibility for paying for the re-surfacing costs of these two grounds.  The NHS also paid for the administration building at the National Hockey Stadium to be built and are therefore responsible for its upkeep.

Fraser Park surface is currently being replaced and will be finished by end of 2009.

The Pavilion at the National Hockey Stadium is operated by the NHS Trust including the bar and canteen within this building. Profits from these ventures go to the NHS Trust.  the Pavilion at Fraser is also run by the NHS Trust.  In addition, all turf fees charged for games and practices from any of the 4 turfs are paid to the NHS Trust.  The Wellington Hockey Association does not financially benefit from turf utilisation although of course any improvement to the facilities made by the Trust, does benefit hockey players as a whole.

The Trust manages all turf bookings for the NHS, Elsdon and Fraser - therefore please contact Paddy on 04 526 5043 or email frankenberg@xtra.co.nz if you wish to book any of the above turfs.
