Below is a description of all our courses that we are running for the 2010 season.
Small sticks courses:
Are you a first time coach needing some ideas for the 2011 season ?
If you have never coached before, or haven’t coached for a while, and you want to learn how to coach modern turf hockey, come along to a Small Sticks Coaching Session and bring a friend with you as well. There are two sessions available, one for coaches of 5-8 year olds and another for coaches of 9-12 year olds, and they will be held over two nights (1 ½ hours each session). The sessions will have some theory content but the real action takes place on the turf with interactive drills and skills. Please bring sports shoes and a stick if you have one. You are advised to wear shin pads and a mouth guard every time you play or train for hockey but it is not a requirement for this session. You will receive a folder of HNZ resources, a log-on to a drills website, and a flash certificate for your effort. Taking these courses in the off season could have you better prepared for the 2011 season.
SMALL STICKS COACHING SESSION 5-8 & 9 – 12 year olds
Dates: Tuesday 9th and Thursday the 11th November 2010 (5-8 year olds)
Tuesday 16th and Thursday the 18th November 2010 (9-12 year olds)
Where: National Hockey Stadium, 9 Mt Albert Road, Wellington.
Time: 6:00 – 7.30pm
Who: Anyone thinking of coaching children
Cost: $45

Youth Courses:
This course is perfect if you are coaching at a Intermediate/Secondary level. This course is being run at NHS in Wellington

Who: Anyone who is coaching Intermediate or Secondary level
Cost: $50
Club Courses:
This course is great if you are coaching teams at a club level (Beginners through to Reserve level).

Who: Anyone who is coaching at a club level

Extension Modules:
These modules are an extension from the small sticks, youth and club courses that coaches have taken.
Goal Scoring Module - this module will be looking at the different types of Goal shooting skills required to be an effective striker, we would like to run 2 sessions for coaches - one for Girls coaches and then one for boys coaches. Added to this module will be an opportunity to view a Goal scoring session run by Sean Dancer emphasising the importance of key elements around goal scoring.

Time: 6.00-7.00pm (theory) 7.00-7.30pm (practical)
Who: Anyone who is coaching and interested in learing more about Goal Scoring.
Cost: $20 - includes CD
