Funding Manager
Reports to Chief Executive, Wellington Hockey Association
Purpose To maintain and develop positive funder and sponsor relationships; to generate increased sponsorship and funding revenue for Wellington Hockey Association
Hours of work Part time; flexible hours; average of 8 hours per week
Fixed Term - 12- 18 months
Work location Able to work from own home and/or WHA office, National Hockey Stadium, Newtown, Wellington
Key responsibilities
1) Increase funding and sponsorship revenue for Wellington Hockey Association
- Develop and implement a funding and sponsorship plan to include:
- Key sponsorship opportunities (e.g. signage, team naming rights, contra arrangements, stadium naming rights etc)
- Key funding opportunities (e.g. administration salaries, programme funding, representative travel and accommodation costs, equipment)
- Identifying key funders and sponsors relevant to the hockey community in Wellington
- Conduct market research to determine market requirements for existing and future products
- Ensuring approaches to sponsors and funders are a best fit for their and our needs
- Programme for retention of existing and new sponsors and funders
- 3 year revenue forecast
- Review plan on a 6-monthly basis
- Manage contracts (content, signatures, adherence to terms and conditions)
- Ensure successful hosting of funders and sponsors at key events (to meet contractual obligations)
2) Complete finance and reporting requirements including:
- Determine and manage marketing/operational budget; deliver to that budget
- Monitor, review and report on all marketing activity and results to Chief Executive on a monthly basis
- Produce annual reports for sponsors and funders as per agreed contracts
- Report to WHA Board as required (estimated at 1 – 2 times per annum)
- Contribute to Annual Report (regarding sponsor and funder outcomes)
- Work with Chief Executive and Finance Officer to provide information for audit as required (specific to sponsor and funder revenue)
3) Other administration
- Contribute to developing the WHA annual operational plan (and meeting those requirements)
- Identify service suppliers for sign writing, graphic design etc (which could be used by WHA and sponsors/funders to promote their work)
- Some website maintenance; specifically to meet sponsor and funder requirements
- Work with other WHA staff on relevant projects or activities as required (e.g. events)
Person Specification
- Business or marketing-related degree or equivalent professional qualification
- A sponsorship background
- Proven experience in customer and market research
- Sales / networking focused
- A clear communicator in writing and verbally
- Excellent presentation skills
- Positive and outgoing attitude
- Able to forge positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in negotiating contracts/agreements
- Sound planning skills
- Experience with relevant software applications
- Able to work some weekends and evenings
